The line is delivered by Percival Browne as he falls for Mme Dubonnet, two older characters in this mainly youthful romp.

It is not intended to be humorous, but following the 1971 film Percy¹ it could not fail to be. By the final performance it had become a showstopper (in the original sense of bringing the show to an extended stop).
