definition

tibbit! exclamation

Shout to be given if first to sight a yellow hydrant during a car journey

Origin

One of those passing-time-on-a-long-journey games

Collector

G & A – 1960s
G & Bel

Notes

A UK hydrant is underground, its presence marked by a small (~300 × 300 mm) yellow plate parallel to the direction of travel, mounted on a short (~500 mm) concrete post. In other words, spotting them from a moving car is not easy
