when a man is tired of Bracknell… expression or saying

Callback to:
When a man is tired of Bracknell he has been there 20 mins

Origin

From a BBC Radio 4 comedy, possibly Concrete Cow. A riff on Samuel Johnson’s “when a man is tired of London he is tired of life”

Collector

Riverbankers – 2000s
Mark, Naomi, Joy & Felix

Notes

Until the 1960s, and long after it lent its name to an Oscar Wilde character, Bracknell was a market village in Windsor Great Forest. It is now a town of 85,000 so dreary it was used as the location for the Dursleys’ home in the first Harry Potter film
