Possibly a reference to Władysław III Spindleshanks (c1167–1231), at various times Duke of Greater Poland, High Duke of Poland, Duke of Kraków, Duke of Kalisz, ruler of Lubusz and ruler over Gniezno. He was noted for unusually long and thin legs.
