prickly pig noun

Echidna, the spine-covered egg-laying mammal sometimes misleadingly known as spiny anteater

Collector

Win – 1980s?
Win Westerhoff – spouse of Clare

Notes

Echidnas live in Australia and New Guinea but their name has travelled thousands of km from Greece¹: good job we don’t have to explain it all to the wee beasties.

¹Either from Ἔχιδνα (Ekhidna), half woman half snake all monster from mythology, or from ἐχῖνος (ekhinos), hedgehog
