definition

<

a pint of water’s a pound and a quarter, except in US where it’s less expression or saying

Counter-mnemonic to Americans’ wholly misleading “A pint’s a pound the whole world around”

Origin

Someone was wrong on the internet and it needed fixing

Collector

Mark – 2010s
Mark Iliff – owner

Notes

1 imperial pint = 20 fl. oz.
1 US pint = 16 fl. oz.
There’s also a 4% difference between the two fluid ounces, but at least that doesn’t come with an annoying mnemonic.

I know I shouldn’t care about archaic units, but we had to learn them at school and letting go comes hard.
