longhetti noun

Spaghetti (see Notes)

Collector

Iliff family – 1950s
Mark’s family growing up

Notes

Spaghetti used to come only in long strands – about 2’ or 60 cm – in dark blue paper packaging. It would have to be eased into the water as it softened. The short, pan-sized stuff is comparatively new (and fresh pasta is positively MODERN my dear!)

UPDATE:
I am informed that the King family had the same word at about the same time
